Firefighters come to the rescue of stranded church group

Our own Waynetown fire department saved the day for a group of stranded students last week.

After a church group’s bus broke down on Interstate 74 last Friday near Waynetown, firefighters responded to help get the students out of the heat. Fire Chief Phil Pirtle arranged to have department vehicles pick the kids up and bring them to the firehouse.

Once inside, the firefighters ordered pizzas for the students and opened up their refrigerator to share cold drinks.
